Please review the job information below. </i></p><p></p><p></p></div><p></p><p><b>General Purpose of Job:</b><br>Assign ICD and CPT/Surgery codes and abstracting to all outpatient medical record types including Surgery, procedures, clinic and hospital visits, Urgent Care, and Ancillary from a part-time remote location in accordance with the department’s established accuracy and productivity requirements.  Pediatric physician coding a plus and multi-specialty coding experience a plus.</p><p></p><p><b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</b></p><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty <span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">satisfactorily. </span> The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <span>This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; employees will perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or hospital administration as required.</span></p><p></p><ul><li>Always maintains utmost level of confidentiality.</li><li>Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.</li><li>Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines. </li><li>Reviews the medical record and assigns the appropriate ICD and CPT codes.</li><li>Codes all assigned outpatient record types daily.</li><li>May assist with audits as needed.</li><li>Monitors assigned charge review work queue.</li><li>Codes records in a timely manner.</li><li>Maintains satisfactory coding performance in accordance with the department’s accuracy target and productivity requirements for each record type.</li><li>Assist with billing staff coding questions to assist with denials.</li><li>Responds to coding requests from internal and external customers, i.e. business office, physician office. </li><li>Requests information needed from physician as needed.</li><li>Participates in attending educational programs, hospital and departmental staff meeting.</li><li>Performs other duties as required by CBO Coding Manager and/or Director.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Education and/or Experience:</b></p><ul><li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>3 -5 years’ physician coding experience preferred.</li><li>Pediatric multi-specialty coding experience preferred</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.</b></p><ul><li>Certified as any of the following: CCS, CCS-P, CPC, AAPC specialty coding certifications, RCC Radiology coding certification.</li><li>Must maintain continuing education hours to maintain certification.</li></ul><p></p>
