Five core values woven into our DNA make Team GrayMatter stand above the rest: <b>Accountability, Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork.</b></div> <div> </div> <div>We’re seeking a dedicated <b>Proposal and Estimating Engineer</b> to focus on proposals and estimating for Building Automation Systems (BAS) with a particular emphasis on PLC-based automation systems for datacenters and mission-critical facilities. The Proposal and Estimating Engineer - BAS will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze project requirements, develop cost estimates, and deliver accurate, competitive, compelling proposals to our clients.</div> <div> </div> <div><b><u>General Job Duties: </u></b></div> <ul> <li> <div>Collaborate with sales, project managers, and technical teams to develop customized proposals that align with client requirements and company objectives.</div> </li> <li> <div>Prepare detailed scope-of-work (SOW) documents, cost breakdowns, and timelines.</div> </li> <li> <div>Ensure all proposals are compliant with technical specifications, contractual terms, and company standards.</div> </li> <li> <div>Analyze project requirements, specifications, and designs to develop precise cost estimates.</div> </li> <li> <div>Identify labor, material, and subcontractor needs, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing.</div> </li> <li> <div>Help maintain a shared database of historical costs and pricing information for reference and future use.</div> </li> <li> <div>Leverage experience in systems integration to assess project feasibility and identify innovative solutions to meet client needs.</div> </li> <li> <div>Understand and evaluate hardware, software, and integration methodologies relevant to each project.</div> </li> <li> <div>Work closely with services and sales teams to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.</div> </li> <li> <div>Drive proposal effort in order to meet client due date requirements.</div> </li> <li> <div>Actively seek/identify proposal process efficiency improvements, including the use of AI and agentic AI tools where possible.</div> </li> <li> <div>Present proposals and estimates to internal stakeholders as well as clients, addressing any questions or concerns.</div> </li> <li> <div>Ensure that all proposals are approved per the company’s Delegation of Authority (DOA) requirements.</div> </li> </ul> <div><b><u>Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed:</u></b></div> <ul> <li> <div>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Integration, or a related field.</div> </li> <li> <div>Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation. Previous experience in proposals and estimating preferred.</div> </li> <li> <div>Strong preference for experience in PLC-based automation of datacenter critical infrastructure, including cooling automation and power distribution monitoring or other Building Automation Systems related experience.</div> </li> <li> <div>Preference for experience using AI tools and other forms of automation to improve estimating timelines, repeatability, and accuracy.</div> </li> <li> <div>Proficient in office productivity and automation-related tools, software, and methodologies.
