We are unfortunately not able to consider candidates located outside these locations and time zones at this stage. What you will be doing The SDET role plays a key part in our product delivery process. The ideal candidate will ensure our software meets requirements and is built to the highest standards. In this role, you will: <ul> <li>Create automated tests using Cypress.io and backend testing tools for API and ETL </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and promote knowledge sharing. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Contribute to and enhance the existing test automation framework. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Conduct POCs to expand non-functional testing frameworks </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Deploy tickets to test environments and production using BitBucket pipelines. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Work alongside data engineers, developers, and DevOps to improve data deployment processes. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Influence and help shape the roadmap for SDET. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Coach junior team members. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Champion and embed shift-left testing practices within the Data team, including defining test scope during refinement sessions, ensuring testable acceptance criteria, and fostering shared quality ownership between engineers. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Contribute to and evolve Semble's shift-left testing strategy, building on existing frameworks and ensuring quality is a collaborative, upstream activity rather than a last-minute gate. </li> </ul> What we are looking for At a Senior level at Semble, we will expect you to be mostly autonomous in your scope and to own and solve complex tasks or lead projects independently. You will work with peers from different functions and have an impact across department. You may be in a mentoring role for more junior team members and should be able to influence effectively and lead by example throughout the company. <ul> <li>5+ years of professional experience as SDET or Test Automation Engineer </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Commercial experience with JavaScript/TypeScript automation frameworks (Cypress is a plus), with a strong focus on backend and API testing. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Commercial experience with Python automation frameworks (pytest, pytest-mock; PySpark experience is a plus). </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Proven experience in building automation frameworks from scratch. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Familiarity with automating E2E tests using POM and BDD syntax. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with API testing using an automation framework. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with performance testing tools (Artillery or K6 is a plus). </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Knowledge of non-functional testing. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Exposure to DevOps tools such as Jenkins, BitBucket, DataDog, and AWS cloud infrastructure (S3, Delta, Databricks). </li> </ul> <ul> <li>A strong advocate for test automation who continually seeks opportunities to enhance the existing automated testing framework. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent SDETs and defend quality in the release process. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience driving shift-left testing culture in engineering teams, including coaching developers to write tests and integrating quality conversations early in the development lifecycle. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with AI testing, including familiarity with evaluation strategies. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Any French language ability is a welcome bonus but not a ‘must have’ </li> </ul> What you’ll get in return <ul> <li>The great feeling coming with knowing you do something that matters: shaping the future of healthcare! </li> </ul> <ul> <li>£65-75k package (based on your experience and the value you can bring) </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Autonomy and ownership – we’ll set the vision and share the context, then we trust you to run with things – that’s the reason we hire you! </li> </ul> <ul> <li>36 days off: 25 holidays +bank holidays +3 extra days (birthday and ‘feel good’ days) - that we will expect you to actually take so you can recharge and rest. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Company Equity - We appreciate and recognise all of our employees’ contributions, so everyone is eligible for Semble share options! </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Private Health Insurance – covering physical and mental health, as well as dental and optical! </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Hybrid & flexible work environment – work from anywhere in the UK, with also some flexibility to work across Europe.
